The Beginning JLA

It's finally here. The first issue of the new DCU Justice League #1 and it's good. Jim Lee does his thing on the art and it looks great like it usually does when he pencils. I love the panel where Batman smiles as Green Lantern asks if Bats is just a guy in a bat costume.
The story by Geoff Johns is what you might expect from a first issue a team book: a couple of heroes meet, face unknown evil, find more heroes and get to the bottom of things. It works and there's some nice banter between Green Lantern and Batman.

The reason this issue was just good for me is that it felt a bit too much like it was written for the trade. Things moved along at a good pace, but I'm not sure if new readers will feel that they need to know what happens next based on this issue. That said I really want to see where this thing goes and I'm buying the next issue.

The Point of it all

There are quite a few blogs out there that seem to be thriving on rampant speculations of what is to come out of DC in September. This blog won't be about that. Here I will be recording my experience with the actual relaunch of the line concerned only with the end products. Ofcourse this also means that this will be quite a quiet blog for the next couple of months, but hey I'll see you all in the first week of September with the following titles:
  • Action Comics #1
  • Animal Man #1
  • Batgirl #1
  • Batwing #1
  • Detective Comics #1
  • Green Arrow #1
  • Hawk and Dove #1
  • Justice League International #1
  • O.M.A.C #1
  • Men Of War #1
  • Static Shock #1
  • StormWatch #1
  • Swampthing #1
So I'll see you then.
